vs. Software

Clarida vs. qbase+

Evolution, not replacement. Same scientific foundation, new possibilities.

First MIQE-compliant analysis in under 15 minutes

The core difference

qbase+ pioneered reliable qPCR analysis. Clarida builds on that foundation with a modern workflow and new capabilities. Same geNorm algorithm - built by the same author. Different vision for what analysis software should be.

Where qbase+ works well

  • Proven and trusted by thousands of labs
  • Solid deterministic analysis engine
  • Well-documented, published methods
  • Established user community

Where Clarida adds value

End-to-end workflow

From experimental design to publication-ready reports - not just the analysis step.

AI insight layer

Pattern recognition and anomaly detection on top of the deterministic calculations you trust.

Modern & collaborative

Cloud-native, shared workspaces, team features - built for how labs work today.

Built by the same scientist who co-created qbase+ and co-authored geNorm

Built on two layers of analysis

Layer 1Deterministic

Every calculation traceable to a peer-reviewed method

  • Same geNorm algorithm, same scientific rigor
  • MIQE compliance by the co-author
  • Published, peer-reviewed foundations
  • Maintained by the original developer
Layer 2AI Insights

Augments your judgment, doesn't replace the validated math

  • AI-driven anomaly detection
  • Cross-experiment pattern recognition
  • Intelligent suggestions and quality alerts
  • Capabilities that go beyond deterministic analysis

Same deterministic foundation. New AI capabilities on top.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about Clarida vs. qbase+

Yes. Jan Hellemans, who co-founded Biogazelle and built the qBase quantification framework, is co-founder of Clarida. Jo Vandesompele, who developed geNorm and co-authored the MIQE guidelines, serves as scientific advisor. The scientific DNA is the same.

Biogazelle was acquired by CellCarta in 2021. CellCarta focuses on genomics contract research, not software. qbase+ was deprecated and is no longer available for download. See our detailed explanation at clarida.bio/what-happened-to-qbase-plus.

Yes. The same geNorm algorithm from Jo Vandesompele's 2002 Genome Biology paper, maintained by the original author. geNorm is also available as a free standalone tool in Clarida.

qbase+ was a desktop analysis tool - you brought data to it after the experiment. Clarida is a cloud-native platform covering the full D-DEAR workflow: Define (research question), Design (plate layout), Execute (guided protocol), Analyze (same methods as qbase+ plus AI insights), and Report (publication-ready output with MIQE-compliant Methods section).
